After breakfast, you will begin your daytime visit to Petra; a city hewn by the Nabataeans in the pink and red mountains of Sharakh and lost to civilization until it was rediscovered by Swiss explorer John Lewis Burckhardt in 1812. You will visit Little Petra, accessed through a narrow passage, and then have a full day to explore Petra before heading to the Dead Sea with a short stop at Mujib Canyon. You will spend two nights in Wadi Rum, which includes desert trips to rock formations and ancient inscriptions, as well as a trek to Jebel Khash, and then travel to Petra. Early in the morning we will start our tour to the Rum Valley, where we will take you through the best and most beautiful places in Wadi Rum. Leaving the historic settlement behind, we enter the arid landscapes of southern Jordan for an off-road tour of the Wadi Rum Desert. This day of the trip is entirely dedicated to Petra, a famous archaeological site nestled in a beautiful landscape of red sandstone. The first day of the tour begins with a journey south of the kingdom to Petra, the Nabatean city of the Red Rose, also considered one of the wonders of the world.
Upon arrival in Amman, you will have time to explore this historic city, visit the nearby Jerash ruins, and stroll through the Zubian Forest before heading to the Wadi Rum Desert. Depending on the time of year and arrival time, you can visit the village of Wadi Musa or visit Petra first. Camp breakfast, 1.5 hours drive to Petra, start to visit the “City of Red Roses”. You will then return to Wadi Rum Village, where you will transfer your vehicle to Little Petra.
